A long time coming but Sporting recorded their first away win of the season in emphatic style when Leamington Hibernian found themselves on the wrong side of a six-nil scoreline.
Centre-back John Huckfield made his debut in defence and with new coach and former Rovers legend Stewart Brighton in the dug out, Sporting opted to play 3-5-2 with the two full-backs pushed into mid-field.

Michael Woolman looked as it he would set something of a record as he advanced on the Hibs goal seconds after the kick-off but he lost control on the bumpy pitch. After that chances were evenly distributed with Woolman again going close with a powerful header whilst at the other end Karl Lewin sent a couple of long range shots over the bar.

Just after the half-hour mark, Neil Cooksey replaced Sporting captain Richard Griffiths who was suffering from a back injury picked up in training and it was the substitute who broke the deadlock on 40 minutes with his first goal for the Club. Nick Harris hit a free-kick along the ground to Odane Barnes who side-footed to Cooksey who then tapped in from a few yards out.

With fog and damp making the pitch heavy, Sporting appeared to cope better with the conditions and had a bit more pace when it mattered. That was put to good use on 58 minutes when Nick Harris put a great pass through to Michael Woolman who having beaten the Leamington offside trap coolly rounded 'keeper Paul Riches for Sporting's second.

If there was any thoughts that the home side could find their way back, that was firmly put to rest when substitute striker Jamie Siviter struck home the rebound after Riches failed to hold Odane Barnes powerful shot.

Barnes himself got on to the score sheet with the fourth for Sporting and his first for the Club when another good move left the Leamington back four stranded and with just the 'keeper to beat, made no mistake from a dozen yards out.

By now Hibs were tiring and when Zac Blood beat his marker, the frustration showed as Myrone Levy unceremoniously bundled the pacy winger over in the box. Jamie Rogers converted from the spot to make it five.

Not to be left out of the action, Dan Wilkes completed a good afternoon for both himself and his team by firing home number six from short range after being put through by Jamie Rogers.

So a comfortable win for Sporting that gets them up to fifth in the league. Leamington had their moments early on but once they went behind they struggled to lift themselves and take control of Sporting's dominance in mid-field.
