Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (Richards 32')

A disappointing second half showing from Bromsgrove Sporting saw them lose 5-1 to Hednesford Town on Tuesday evening.

The Rouslers opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, courtesy of Courtney Richards, but Louis Dodds' equaliser in the third minute of first half additional time would turn the game on its head.

This is because the home side scored four in the second half without reply; Dan Turner and Dodds netted with neatly taken efforts, before headers from Kyle Rowley and Ben Bailey inside the final 10 minutes completed the demolition job.

The first chance of the match fell to Bromsgrove's Josh Ezewele, who capped off a well-worked team move with a shot that hit the side netting.

Up the other end, Turner and Reece Flanagan both had efforts comfortably saved by Daniel Platt.

The 24th minute saw Mikey Taylor take a penalty for Sporting, after Chris Lait was fouled in the area - unfortunately for the Rouslers, the spotkick was kept out by Andy Wycherley, who had a rather simple save to make.

However, eight minutes later, Sporting would break the deadlock. Midfielder Gift Mussa drove forward and saw a blocked pass fall to Richards. With plenty of time and space, he had a shot from around 20 yards that Wycherley got hands to but could only flap into the net.

It appeared as though Sporting would take a lead into the break but those hopes were dashed in the dying moments, as a free kick in an inviting position was floated into the box, from which Dodds was able to hammer home after an initial shot that was blocked.

The second half misery for Sporting began in the 51st minute; dismal defending resulted in Turner finding himself in acres of space in the box, allowing him to slot home into the bottom corner.

Five minutes later, Sporting captain Leon Broadhurst had a couple of headers in quick succession but was unable to find the net and, in the 67th minute, the lead was doubled, as Callam Mendez-Jones skilfully waltzed through the Sporting defence and teed up Dodds, who eased the ball into the same corner as Turner's goal 16 minutes earlier.

There was a rare moment of quality for Bromsgrove in the second half 20 minutes from time, as Platt pulled off a brilliant save from a Anthony Dwyer penalty after the Hednesford striker was fouled by Jack Wilson.

However, the final 10 minutes saw the Pitmen not only score their fourth but a fifth as well. The goals were carbon copies of one another, the only thing differing were the players involved.

The 81st minute saw a Turner corner headed in by an unmarked Rowley, the 87th minute saw a Jack Hallahan corner headed in by an equally unmarked Bailey.

Both from the same corner flag, both finding the same corner and both exposing serious defensive frailties on chastening evening for Sporting.
