Bromsgrove Sporting 0 (Newell Red Card 48')
Stourbridge 2 (Styche 33' P, Gibson 81')
Stourbridge ran out 2-0 winners over Bromsgrove Sporting, in front of a 1,668-strong crowd at the Victoria Ground.
Goals from the in-form strike partnership of Reece Styche and Montel Gibson ensured the Glassboys would take all three points back to the War Memorial Ground.
Both sides enjoyed chances early in the game; Jamie Molyneux and Nathan Hayward both forced saves out of Stourbridge stopper Charlie Price, whilst Kayo Brown and Styche both had efforts saved by Sporting keeper Ollie Taylor.
The home side had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 29th minute, as a Molyneux cross into the box was almost bundled over the line by Will Shorrock, with only a last ditch block somehow keeping the ball out.
The opener came 33 minutes in, via the penalty spot. Tom Taylor brought down Styche in the box and up stepped the Gibraltarian international to neatly put the spotkick into the bottom corner.
Centre back Joe Hull almost doubled the lead just before half time, but was unable to convert either of his headed chances - the first of which was brilliantly palmed away by a diving Taylor.
Sporting were reduced to 10 men three minutes into the second half, as Jack Newell was shown a straight red after he fouled Styche in what the referee adjudged to be a last man situation.
The visitors had more chances as the half progressed, with Gibson, Lee Vaughan and James McQuilkin all missing the target with strikes from distance.
The 77th minute saw Taylor save a Darryl Knights header before Styche hit the bar but they would only have to wait four minutes more for the goal that would seal the win, as Gibson got on the end of a long ball, took it past Taylor and simply knocked the ball into an empty net.
