Bromsgrove Sporting 2 (Brown 13', Hayward 75')
Stourbridge 0
Another cup match for Bromsgrove Sporting garnered another victory on Tuesday evening, as the Rouslers beat Stourbridge 2-0 in the Southern League Cup.
Goals from Demetri Brown and Nathan Hayward ensured Sporting would progress to the third round of the competition.
The deadlock was broken in the 13th minute, as a throw in was headed on by Cameron Ebbutt, into the path of Brown. The striker went on to power home into the bottom corner from close range.
Moments later, a Joel Kettle header via an Ebbutt free kick was saved, with another headed effort being tipped onto the bar by Lewis Solly shortly afterwards.
The 27th minute saw Miro Pais have a drilled effort saved by Solly, whilst Stourbridge's only chance of the half came in the 41st minute, as a Tyler Smith shot was palmed away by Akos Onodi.
Sporting almost doubled their lead just before the interval, but Josh Dugmore and Brown both had strikes saved.
The Glassboys' James McQuilkin had a free kick from range kept out early 56 minutes into the second half, before Sporting's Connor Taylor struck wide from inside the area 10 minutes later.
With a little over 20 minutes remaining, Ethan Moran missed the target from a promising position for the visitors. The home team were to score their second in the 75th minute, as Ebbutt teed up Hayward in the area, allowing him to slot a simple opportunity home.
Pais almost made it three in the final moments, but his strike from a little over 20 yards was just over the bar.
