Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (Shorrock 74')
Hitchin Town 2 (Eadie 50' (P), Marsh 61')
Hitchin Town's impressive away form in 2020 continued on Saturday afternoon, with a 2-1 win at Bromsgrove Sporting.
A Layne Eadie penalty in the 50th minute gave the visitors the lead, before Alex Marsh headed home 11 minutes later to double the advantage.
Substitute Will Shorrock pulled one back for Bromsgrove with a little over 15 minutes remaining and despite late pressure from Bren Kelly's men, they would ultimately come up short against the Hertfordshire side.
The first half was one of very few chances, with Lewis Barker having a shot saved from range by Daniel Platt for Hitchin, while Bromsgrove's Greg Mills hit an effort over the bar just before the interval.
The 48th minute saw Sporting's Tom Taylor have a chance from inside the area saved by Charlie Horlock, before the opener came two minutes later.
Jack Wilson was adjudged to have brought down Daniel Webb in the area, with Eadie's penalty hitting Platt's palm before going in.
In the 59th minute, Platt made two great saves from Marsh and Brett Donnelly efforts but it would be two just moments later, as the unmarked Marsh headed nonchalantly into the bottom corner.
Shorrock clawed one back for the Rouslers in the 74th minute, hammering home into the roof of the net after Shaquille McDonald had two shots in quick succession.
Mills fizzed a great cross into the six yard box with five minutes left but nobody was on hand to convert, as Sporting were unable to chalk up the illusive equaliser.
