Bromsgrove Sporting recorded their first league win at home on Tuesday night, with an emphatic 4-0 win over league leaders Hednesford Town.

A first half opener from Kieren Westwood was followed by a dominant second 45 from the Rouslers, with a Nathan Hayward volley, a close range Mikey Taylor shot and a pinpoint drive from substitute Richard Gregory ensuring would comfortably take all three points.

Both teams began the game lively enough, with Hednesford's Tom Elliott pinging in a curled effort from 20 yards that hit the top of crossbar on its way to going out, before Greg Mills had a shot deflected away for a corner, from which defender Tom Taylor headed over.

The deadlock was broken 19 minutes in; courtesy of a well worked team goal this. Mikey Taylor displayed some strong hold up play, allowing him to set up Will Shorrock, who played in Westwood - he capped the move off with a left footed effort from around six yards, which nestled in the bottom corner.

The chances continued to flow for both sides before the half's end, with Elliot Hodge striking an effort from distance that swirled viciously in the air on its way to keeper Tony Breeden, who palmed it away.

Ben Bailey drew a fine save from Breeden with an effort inside the box that was drilled low; Elliott converted the rebound, but was adjudged to have been offside.

Up the other end, Mikey Taylor found himself in a one on one position with the Pitmen's stopper Daniel Platt, but he kept out the Sporting frontman's strike out well.

The big moments kept coming early in the second half, as Sporting were awarded a penalty just three minutes in after Enoch Andoh felled Shorrock in the area. With usual penalty taker Gregory on the bench, up stepped goalkeeper Breeden, who had a powerful left-footed drive saved smartly by Platt.

However, the lead would be doubled seven minutes later, via a cracker from Hayward. The move started by Shaquille McDonald finding Shorrock in a wide position; he put a wonderful cross into the box, which Hayward got on the end of and belted home on the volley with his right foot.

The third came 66 minute in, this being a great solo effort from Mikey Taylor. He battled up the wing and despite appearing to have lost the ball, he got himself into the box and, from a tight angle, fired in a shot that hit Platt before wriggling in.

Hednesford had opportunities before the fourth eventually came. Substitute Thomas Fry had two quickfire chances, the first a shot that Breeden kept out, before putting a free header wide.

Fellow substitute Kieran Wells struck from the perimeter of the box but shanked wide soon after, followed by Fry having another chance, this just inside the area, which Breeden was equal to, with a strong hand.

The game's final goal was another created through an eye-catching team collaboration. Mikey Taylor passed the ball out wide to the menacing Shorrock, who neatly set up Gregory. One touch, just inside the area, before hitting hard and low into the bottom corner.

Danny Glover had a chance in the dying embers on the game but hit wide from close range but this was Sporting's night, well and truly, as an incredible second half saw the Rouslers run out thoroughly deserving winners.
