Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (M. Taylor 14')
AFC Rushden & Diamonds 0
A first half Mikey Taylor strike saw Bromsgrove Sporting record their first home win of the season.
The game's only goal came 14 minutes in, as a Chris Lait cross was slotted into the back of the net by the Sporting striker.
Rushden captain Tom Lorraine had an early effort saved by Daniel Platt, which was followed by the goal six minutes later.
Lait forged up the wing and his inviting ball into the six yard box was duly knocked in by Taylor.
The visitors enjoyed some good chances afterwards; Zack Reynolds hit over from inside the box, before Jesse Akubuine had a shot fantastically saved by Platt and Fernando Bell-Toxtle struck the crossbar with the rebound.
A further chance came in the 36th minute, as Luke Farlamb capped a counter attack with a shot that was destined for the bottom corner, were it not for the palm of Platt.
Farlamb had two further efforts early in the second half, the first going wide and the second being deflected onto the woodwork.
The hour mark saw Sporting's Jason Cowley shoot just wide from the edge of the area, with Rushden's Chris Wreh shooting straight at Platt from a great position soon after.
Reynolds had another good opportunity in the 78th minute but Platt kept it out with a low save. Three minutes later, Bromsgrove's Charlie Dowd found the post with a shot from 20 yards.
AFC substitute Lorrell Smith shot wide of the mark with eight minutes remaining and despite late Diamonds pressure, the Rouslers held out resolutely for all three points.
