On Saturday Bromsgrove Sporting visited AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
With Rushden fighting for play-offs and Sporting fighting to stay up, the game was bound to be filled with passion from both sides.
The first half saw both sides create chances, Rushden went close to an opener after a scramble in the box however Sporting’s defensive duo of Kettle and McGrath defended well.
A flurry of corners for Sporting failed to produce anything, shortly after Rushden started to dominate the game. Just as the half was ending, Rushden took the lead through Will Jones who headed the ball past Ollie Taylor.
Shortly into the second half sporting manager Gavin Hurren made two changes seeing Raison and Candlin make way for Molyneux and Goddard.
After this change we saw Dugmore move into a more attacking role increasing Sportings threat going forward.
Rushden doubled their lead in the 70th minute with a brilliant strike from Connor Furlong.
Sporting reacted well, Josh Quaynor had a free-kick opportunity that was saved, and Jamie Molyneux hit a low shot wide of the keeper.
Just as full-time was approaching Jamie Molyneux hit his second low effort that went under Snedker and to the back of the net. There was 3 minutes of additional time in which Sporting played some very attacking football eager for the equaliser.
Jonathan Letford had a chance which then fell to Quaynor however his effort went well over the bar.
The game was controlled well by Rushden, however playing surfaces posed a problem for both sides throughout the game. Sporting now look to their final home game of the season against Stratford Town.
