Bromsgrove Sporting’s eight-match winning run came to an end on Tuesday evening, courtesy of a 1-1 draw at home to Leamington.
Kai Tonge put the Brakes into the lead after 21 minutes, before former Leamington man Joe Doyle-Charles levelled proceedings on the stroke of half time.
Despite numerous chances for Sporting throughout the second half and a late flurry of strikes for the visitors, the game would finish one apiece, with Sporting making it nine games unbeaten and Leamington just about keeping themselves out of the league’s bottom four.
Brad Bood hit the woodwork for Sporting after eight minutes, before Bromsgrove’s Billy Shaw saw his strike trickle just wide 16 minutes in.
The deadlock was broken after Tonge got on the end of a well-weighted pass and coolly slotted home past Sporting stopper Tony Breeden from inside the box.
Former Sporting man Kyle Belmonte almost doubled the lead five minutes later, but his attempt was kept out via a last ditch tackle from Bromsgrove captain Chris Hussey.
Ollie Harrison and Jamille Matt both put headers wide for Sporting before the equaliser – Doyle-Charles was the recipient of a good long ball, which allowed him to neatly place the ball into the bottom corner.
Shaw had a shot palmed wide by Leamington keeper Brian Okonkwo six minutes into the second half, before the Leamington keeper kept out two Bood efforts with his feet in quick succession just after the hour mark.
Adam Jasper narrowly missed the target for the Rouslers in the 69th minute; moments later, Matt hit a one-on-one effort straight at Okonkwo before a cracker from Doyle-Charles flew just over the bar.
Bood had an effort saved with a minute of normal time remaining – the additional time saw Leamington dominate, the best chance being a strike from Iddriss Fuesini that Breeden had to alert to divert away well.
