LADIES & VETERANS TEAMS: 2021 review

The following is a review of the year for our Ladies and Veterans teams…

LADIES TEAM

By Alan Horton, Manager

“Going into the second half of the season, the team currently sit top of the WMFL Ladies League. After a very difficult start, with injuries and COVID, a lot of the ladies had to play out of position.

“But, giving credit where its due, they all worked extremely hard and got their rewards in sitting where we are now in the table.

“We now move into the second part of the season much stronger squad wise, and look forward to the challenge ahead.

“We would like to thank the fans for coming down and supporting us and we would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!”

VETERANS

By Jonathan Hems, from the team

“The first half of the season has been very strong for the Vets, only losing two games – one in the league and one in the quarter finals of the County Cup, to possibly the best team in all the divisions in West Brom Spinney.

“The Vets are seven points off top spot but do have four games in hand, along with still being in both the Major Cup and the League Cup, so lots of football still to be played.

“We’ve made some fantastic signings, most notable being Sporting’s very own Daniel Morris, who has been outstanding since joining.

“We would also like to thank the Sporting supporters who have been fantastic this season at the Victoria Ground on a Sunday morning.

“We hope to see more of you there in the second half of the season. Finally we would like to wish everyone associated with the club a very Happy New Year.”
