LADIES TEAM: Looking ahead to the new season

With the kick-off of the 2025/26 league season for our ladies not far away, the management team have looked ahead to what’s in store and how preparations are going. Manager Alan Horton starts by reflecting on last season’s campaign…

“Our first season at Tier 6 was always going to be a challenge, with speed and physicality increasing drastically. We played well in spells and grew into the season. Our downfall was playing the majority of the campaign without recognised strikers, which is where we set our first target to improve this year,” he commented.

The Ladies have achieved this target, recruiting lots of new players to add depth and competition to the squad. New additions Elloise and Vicky S scored a combined total of 91 goals last season, adding firepower to the squad.

Sporting have also strengthened in other areas, with new goalkeeper Jessie replacing Rosie, who left for Redditch United. They’ve also added a number of midfielders, adding depth and attacking threat, with the ability to contribute goals to the team.

Alan Horton added: “This is going to be an exciting season for the Ladies. The coaching team know that the potential is there for the squad to challenge at the top of the table, we need the players to believe that too. We’ve added lots of quality to the team, as well as keeping hold of a majority of last season’s squad.”

There is still some work going on behind the scenes on a few more signings, who would all add great depth to the squad.

Reflecting on pre-season so far, head coach Curtis Goodison says: “We started pre-season early this year and we have recruited very well. Players are training well and the intensity is excellent. Players are starting to gel and, with the number of new signings, this will only get stronger as the Ladies spend more time on the pitch together.”

In what promises to be an exciting season, the team are looking for your support to cheer the team on, and give them your support to help achieve what the team is capable of.

Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies are looking forward to the start of their new season, kicking off at home against Kingfisher in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday 7th September, kick-off 2pm.
