JACK’S 150: Midfielder Joins Select Sporting Group

At our game against Kettering Town earlier this month, midfielder Jack Newell played his 150th game for Sporting.

At Saturday’s game versus Stourbridge, he marked this special milestone with an award, alongside major club sponsor, Elliott Nash, and his sponsor for the season, Sporting superfan Kevin Baggott.

Jack becomes the sixth Sporting player to reach this landmark, joining club captain Aaron Roberts, as well as defenders Craig Jones, Jack Wilson, and Danny Morris, plus Bromsgrove born and bred, Josh Quaynor.

In game 148, Jack scored the final goal in our pulsating 5-3 win over AFC Sudbury, which he can be seen celebrating in the photo below.

Upon reaching his the 150 appearance mark, Jack commented: “I’m really pleased to reach 150 appearances for the club – obviously it’s a nice milestone to achieve.

“I’m grateful for the support from my teammates, the staff and the fans along the way – it means a lot.

“Hopefully, we can finish the season on a positive note as well.”

Reflecting back on standout moments with the club, one goal stands out in particular for Jack, who is affectionately known as Chops…

“From a personal point of view, the FA Cup goal against Welwyn Garden City will always stand out as a big moment.

“The fact it proved to be pivotal in getting the club a good draw in the following round, against Grimsby in front of the BBC cameras, made it that bit sweeter.”

From everybody at Sporting, congratulations Jack on reaching 150 appearances for the club!
