Ahead of Saturday’s league match, at home to Lowestoft Town (3:00 KO), manager Scott Adey-Linforth has spoken about the opposition, his touchline bans, and the amazing support from our fans. He starts with reflections on last Saturday…
“First of all, I’d like to apologise to our supporters for the result last week at Redditch. We know we didn’t perform as well as we could have, and it was disappointing to lose in the manner that we did.
“I felt there wasn’t much in the game and that we defended well up until the final moments. Maybe, on another day, the result would’ve swung in our favour but me, my staff, and the players, are eager to bounce back this Saturday and we can’t wait to try and put it right in front of our own supporters.Â
“That being said, Saturday won’t be an easy task, as Lowestoft come to us needing points on the board. They are an energetic team and can cause teams issues with the quality they have in attack. We have prepared hard for this game and we respect their threats.
“It’s no secret I’ve had quite a few touchline bans recently. This, as you can imagine, has been extremely hard for me personally – not being on the bench is tough. Unfortunately, I picked up two red cards before Christmas (one when I was a coach and one as manager) and these suspensions have only just come through, which is extremely frustrating.
“On that, I’d like to praise the work done by my team, lead by Darryl (Knights – assistant manager), who have been fantastic in my absence from the technical area.Â
“As we enter the final five games, we know we’re not safe and that we still have a job to do. The hard work the lads have put in since I have been in charge has been fantastic and has left us in a strong position going into the final month of the season.
“Our safety is in our own hands, and we will give everything over the next five to secure our Step Three status.Â
“Your support over these next five matches will be crucial – both home and away. I urge you all to continue backing us and help us to get over the finish line. For the first time in weeks, I’m pleased to say we have a fully fit squad available.
“I can’t wait for tomorrow and the remaining fixtures, and I look forward to seeing you all.”
