Ahead of Saturday’s season finale, at home to Bishop’s Stortford (3:00 KO), manager Scott Adey-Linforth has spoken about the opposition, achieving safety, the season as a whole and our support…
“For the final time this season, we welcome you to the UK Electrical Stadium, where we host Bishop’s Stortford. I expect a very competitive game, with Bishops still fighting to stay in the league and us wanting to finish as high as we can.
“We want to finish the season on a high and will be going all out to do so.Â
“It’s no secret that this season has been extremely difficult, but I’m delighted to be remaining at Step Three next season and the lads have worked incredibly hard for that to happen.
“Over the past month, the majority of the lads have been carrying knocks and injuries that would put most out, but they’ve battled on through to get us over the line.
“As well as this, losing Fin Holmes and Luke Rowe certainly made the challenge harder.Â
“For all the negative points, there have been some brilliant moments that will live long in our memories – the run over Christmas and New Year, big results against the likes of Kettering and Halesowen, and then the late drama at Barwell and St Ives – I could go on!
“The group have really come together and developed a real resilience and togetherness; this, along with your incredible support, have been the main reasons as to why we’ve managed to stay up this year so, for that, I thank you.Â
“I’d like to place on record my thanks to assistant manager Darryl Knights and my amazing team of staff. This is an extremely demanding job and I wouldn’t be able to do it without their hard work and support. Â
“I’m excited for the future and what’s to come. I look forward to seeing you all for one last time this season!”
