COACHES’ CORNER: Paul Smith Previews Spalding United

Ahead of Saturday’s league match, at home to Spalding United (3:00 KO), manager Paul Smith has spoken about the fixture, the latest with the squad and the support at Tuesday night’s game…

“It’s another difficult home game ahead, but one we are very much looking forward to.

“Spalding will be looking to respond after a heavy defeat at Kettering on Tuesday – as we will be after our defeat against Stratford.

“It’s set up to be a very interesting game.

“Unfortunately, we have a few early injury issues, with three players facing last minute fitness tests after taking knocks on Tuesday and at training on Thursday. Added to that, Billy Shaw misses his final game due to holiday and, although Ethan Patterson is not fit, he is hopefully a couple of weeks away from being back available.

“Some good news is that Charlie Wragg, paperwork permitting, will return to the match day squad after his involvement with Walsall on Tuesday evening.

“A crowd of nearly 900 was tremendous for our first home match on Tuesday night and the support you gave the boys and I throughout the game, even after a tough first half, was nothing short of magnificent. We all really do appreciate it.

“The sun is set to be shining and I think it’s going to be a great game tomorrow, so let’s get as many down to the UK Electrical Stadium as we can, to help the boys get a result.”
