Ahead of Saturday’s league match, at home to Bedford Town (3:00 KO), manager Paul Smith has spoken about the fixture. He also talks about some very important player news – absentees and a new addition…
“We have managed to get two training sessions in this week, and the boys have trained well.
“Whilst we have struggled for results of late, the players have remained positive, and I’m hopeful of a good performance tomorrow.
“Unfortunately, we are missing a number of players. Both Reece King and Harry Crook are suspended, although a strange ruling allows Harry to play for Dudley Town at Step Five, while being suspended at Step Three. So I’ve sent him there to tick over.Â
“Charlie Wragg’s loan finished this week, and with Walsall wanting him to experience different environments, we were unable to extend it – he has since gone into Alvechurch on loan on their hybrid programme.
“Jack Newall has also been recalled by Burton for their game tomorrow, but all going well should be back for next weeks trip to Leiston.
“Added to that, Callum King-Harmes is in talks with another club, and is likely to be leaving.
“Obviously this is not ideal, but it does offer opportunities for others to impress.
“With so many players out, I’ve brought Ryan Boothe in from Halesowen – paperwork permitting, he will be available to feature tomorrow.
“It’s been nearly six weeks since our last home Saturday league fixture, and we are all looking forward to being back at the UK Electrical Stadium. While results have been against us of later, your support will be crucial in helping the players get some much needed points on board.
“It would be brilliant to see and hear you tomorrow – let’s pull together and see if we can all get the result that the hard work going in deserves.”
