COACHES’ CORNER: Paul Smith Previews Banbury United

Ahead of Saturday’s league match, away at Banbury United (3:00 KO), manager Paul Smith has spoken about the match and starts with an honest assessment of our recent matches…

“We go into tomorrow’s game in a poor run of results – normally, in these situations, it’s very much doom and gloom amongst the staff and players. But the feeling is different; it’s upbeat, and they are at it in training.

“That’s because, although we have lost games, we are not far away, and in the last four league games, our performances have deserved more points than we have picked up.

“The players need to remain positive and continue to work hard; with that, I’m sure we will get ourselves out of this poor run that we are on.

“We have strengthened the squad this week, and I feel the four boys coming in will improve the group greatly.

“Although results haven’t been what we have all wanted, it’s not for the want of trying, and there is still lots to be positive about around the club.

“We are at the very beginning of a journey, and there will be lots of bumps along the way. What’s good about bad spells is that they make good spells feel even better, and I’m hopeful our next good spell is not far away.”
