COACHES’ CORNER: Bren Kelly previews Redditch United

Ahead of our opening match in the inaugural Red Recruitment Cup, at home to Redditch United (7:30 KO), manager Bren Kelly has previewed the fixture, reflecting on the period without football and providing a squad update.

“Redditch at home tomorrow in the first of our six matches over the festive period, unless things change with the government update on Wednesday.

“Local bragging rights are at stake and I guess you could almost call it a second pre-season, as we live in hope of a restart to competitive games.

“At this moment, my only concern is Sporting; we have been training hard remotely and we are all focused on getting back to winning ways.

“Chilly (Lee Chilton) and Brad (Birch) have come in and I hope to sign another couple of players too.

“Inevitably players will also exit our club; however that’s football – it happens. Everyone is available for tomorrow, except Nath Hayward, who is waiting for a scan.

“What’s done is done and we have a fresh canvas to paint. We aim to get back to winning ways and perform better for the Sporting faithful. See you all tomorrow under the lights at our beloved VG.”
