COACHES’ CORNER: Bren Kelly previews Banbury United

Ahead of Saturday’s league visit to Banbury United (3:00 KO), manager Bren Kelly has previewed the fixture, with emphasis on the huge need to put in a better performance than our most recent defeat.

“This weekend, we face a tough away fixture at Banbury, who have already beat us convincingly this season.

“Our two objectives are to perform far better than last Saturday and perform far better than we did when Banbury came to the VG.

“There were lots of unacceptable performances last week in our ranks, so I have a clean slate to choose from in regards to squad selection.

“We carried too many players and we need to show up in these big games, against teams at the business end of the table.

“There is no point in doing it against the teams around then bottom, only to then struggle against the better sides.

“Shirts are well and truly up for grabs and players have nobody to blame but themselves if they don’t get one.

“Our injury list looks a lot healthier so that’s positive and we are looking forward to bouncing back in the right way.”
