After Saturday’s match, we held our end of season awards evening in the Rousler Bar. The following is a summary of all the winners, with photos…
FANS PLAYER OF THE SEASON
This was voted for at the Sudbury game, our penultimate home match of the season. It was won by defender Aaron Roberts, who collected his award by fan Gaz Mason, who DJs at our functions at the Rousler Bar.
Aaron commented: “First time I’ve won this award for the club so extra special to do it at the highest level we have operated! Thanks to all the Sporting fans who voted and can’t wait to have bash next year.”
MANAGER’S PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Former manager Tim Flowers and Director of Football Graham Scott chose club captain Luke Rowe for this accolade – he collected this award from club president Jeff Rea.
Luke commented: “Thank you to Tim Flowers, who voted for me to be manager’s player of the season! An award that means a lot.”
PLAYERS PLAYER OF THE SEASON
This accolade also went the way of midfielder Luke Rowe, who collected his award from club president Jeff Rea once again.
Luke commented: “An award that means the most! To know what your team mates think of you is a good feeling! I want to congratulate all the players and thank them for all their efforts this season!”
DIRECTORS PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Our club directors chose goalkeeper Ollie Taylor, who collected his award from Director of Football Graham Scott.
Ollie commented: “Another season ticked off. Great set of lads, well earned rest before the challenge of next season.”
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Club officials chose defender David Solademi for this accolade – club president Jeff Rea gave him his award.
David commented: “Happy to have received this award. It’s been a long and hard season but a lot of experience has been gained along the way. It’s good to end it on a positive note.”
CLUB SUPPORTER OF THE SEASON
Sporting superfan Jon Badger won this award and celebrated the occasion with vice chairman Richard Boorn.
CHAIRMAN’S SPECIAL AWARD
Chairman Rod Brown awarded this to club secretary Dave Stephens, for another season of tireless service to the club.
SPECIAL THANK YOUS
The evening concluded with flowers for, starting top left and moving clockwise (in the picture below), Sarah Lammas (club accountant), Sandra Cable (matchday reception in the office entrance amongst many other jobs!), Julie Harrison-Cornes (catering manager – collected for her by maintenance manager Dave Sheppard) and Ella Walker (bar manager).
Finally, board members Phil Baker (in the scarf) and John Smith (collected for him by welfare officer Iain Queen), who are both standing down from their respective roles at the end of this season, received bottles of whisky as a thank you for their years of brilliant service to the club.
A massive well done to everybody who was recognised on the night for their achievements and hard work!
