Report & Action from the Legends Match

Bromsgrove Sporting Reds 1 (Brain 28′)

Bromsgrove Sporting Greens 4 (Solademi 9′, Russell 54′, Conway 71′, Bunn 86′)

In the battle of Reds vs Greens for the Bromsgrove Sporting Legends Match, it was the Greens who were victorious, running out 4-1 winners.

445 people were in attendance, with all monies from gate receipts going to Prostate Cancer UK. They saw David Solademi give the Greens an early lead before Sean Brain equalised in the 28th minute.

The two teams went into the interval at one apiece, but the Greens broke away in the second half, as Billy Russell, Chrisi Conway and Robbie Bunn all put their names on the scoresheet.

Defender Solademi gave the Greens the lead in the 9th minute, courtesy of a well struck left footed shot from inside the area.

The Reds had some good chances before their leveller, with Brain heading over from close range before Josh Quaynor and Luke Dugmore both narrowly missed the target from distance.

Dugmore was involved in the Reds’ goal, as he found Brain in the box, who confidently fired the ball home.

After the half time break, the Greens ran riot. Dale Edwards struck the ball straight at Jono Brown in the 53rd minute but they would score just a minute later, as Russell poked home from just yards out after capitalising on a rebound.

Brown had to be alert to keep out efforts from Conway and Bunn but he had little chance with the Greens’ third, as Conway thumped home via a Russell assist in the 71st minute.

Craig Jones steered a Conway strike wide that looked destined for the goal in the 84th minute but the scoring would be complete just two minutes later, as the impressive Bunn coolly slotted home from inside the box.

The blowing of the final was directly followed by handshakes between the legends and a joyous pitch invasion from the younger spectators, many of whom were recreating the goals, tackles and saves of their Sporting heroes.
