Below is the first round-up of the season featuring the latest news from both our U21s and new U18s sides, from Matt Tennant…
U21s
The Under-21s are back and marked the new season with a strong 3-1 win at Birmingham OJMC U21 on Saturday!
Newcomer Josh Long scored on his debut, with Fin Carson also bagging for the Rouslers in the first half.
Birmingham OJMC scored a goal in but Bromsgrove stayed composed, with a finish from Kaiden Bonnick securing the win and earning them maximum points in their season opener! Player of the Match was Josh Burgess.
Bromsgrove U21s face Brocton U21s away at 10:30am on Saturday 15th August.
U18s
Recruitment for our new U18s side has gone well, after some trials were ran in the spring. Pre-season began at the back end of June – featuring a mixture of running, ballwork in possession and some technical drills as well.
Coach Dave Andrewartha comments: “I’m really pleased with the quality and the attitudes of the lads we’ve recruited.
“The lads have been awesome – we’ve been hit with a few absences, and it is that time of the year with holidays, so numbers at times have been a bit low, but the lads that have been around have been absolutely superb.”
Four pre-season games have worked really well for them, which provided a good opportunity for the lads to get minutes into the legs and to get to know each other.
Their season starts this Monday (10th August) – at Bedworth United away (The Oval – 7:45 KO). Their first home game is Monday 17th August, when they welcome Studley to the UK Electrical Stadium (7:45 KO).
Dave Andrewartha adds: “We’re really looking forward to the Studley game – our first fixture on our home pitch. We’re really looking forward to what will hopefully be successful season!!
