Bromsgrove Sporting 3 (Flanagan 29' OG,
Banbury United 0
Bromsgrove Sporting picked up their first home win of the season in emphatic fashion on Tuesday evening, beating Banbury United 3-0.
An own goal from Josh Flanagan was followed by goals from Gus Sanches and Jack Newell, as the Rouslers ended their losing run in fine style.
The 21st minute saw Sporting skipper Reece King narrowly put a header wide, before Aaron McCreadie shot just wide for the Puritans from around 20 yards.
The deadlock was broken 29 minutes in, as Flanagan diverted a tantalising free kick from Jack Kelly into his own net.
The lead was doubled eight minutes later, as a forward ball from Aston Villa-loanee Charlie Pavey was chased down by Sanches, who brilliantly curled a shot round the stranded Banbury keeper Jack Harding and into the goal.
McCreadie and Sanches both had efforts blocked 12 minutes into the second half, whilst Sporting substitute Kobe Hall struck the ball narrowly over the bar from the edge of the area in the 72nd minute.
The Bromsgrove striker put a golden opportunity from inside the box wide with six minutes remaining, but the scoring was complete in the 88th minute, as some brilliant hold up play from Pavey allowed Newell to serenely knock the ball into the bottom corner.
For Sporting, this win was a much needed tonic as they head into a weekend off before two trips to Leicestershire, for consecutive away matches at Barwell and Quorn.
