Before Saturday’s win over Lowestoft Town, defender Ash Carter marked winning Player of the Month for March with Brian Poole and Steve Smith – representing Ash’s sponsor for the season, Sporting’s incredible Ground Force team!
Ash won March Player of the Month with 36% of the vote, seeing off fierce competition from Carter Lycett, Billy Shaw and Jack Newell.
Solid performances in our win over Sudbury and draws against high-flying Telford and Harborough were undoubtedly a huge factor in the centre back winning the award.
Reflecting on winning the award, Ash commented: “First of all, I would like to thank all the fans who voted for me as Player of the Month – I’m delighted to win the award and it means a lot.
“As the end of the season is just around the corner, and an important run in is ahead of us, we now need all the fans – home and away – to help us get over the line and secure Step Three football for this amazing football club.
“Safety seemed so far away when I signed, but what seemed a mountain to climb is now in our hands now and this is all down to everyone involved at the club – players, management, staff, volunteers and fans. We need one final big push from everyone associated with Sporting!
“Enjoy the last few weeks, with lovely weather and smiles on faces! Me, the lads, and the management will leave everything out there, as we do week in week out.
