Today) will see us celebrate International Women’s Day, at our game versus AFC Telford United.
At half time, ladies and girls from all of our Sporting sides will take to the pitch to celebrate their achievements, as we look to break down barriers in women’s football!
What’s more – tickets for women will be half price on the day, and girls under 16 will be admitted for free!
We have also invited other sides from across Bromsgrove, along with AFC Telford United’s female footballers, to be represented at this event and help share our goal.
A special guest at the event will be Bromsgrove Council Chair Sam Ammar (picture below), who has been a spectator at our ladies’ games previously!
As a football club, we’re proud to always be looking to make football more accessible for all – breaking down barriers of inequality, creating more opportunities for females to thrive and inspire others to take up the sport.
The female football pathway is an integral part of Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club, providing a valuable contribution to the overall community and sporting spirit.
Bromsgrove Sporting female teams have been actively participating in competitive league and cup games since 2020. In the 2023/2024 season the Ladies First Team saw unprecedented success and soared their way to the top of the Midwest Counties Female Football League. Their phenomenal performance – remaining undefeated in all of their league games – secured their outstanding promotion to Tier 6 football for the 2024/2025 season.
Nationally, female football has seen incredible growth over the last few years thanks to the outstanding success of the Lionesses. This growth has also been reflected in the influx of female footballers joining the Sporting community.
More recently, additional teams have been established to meet demand and strengthen the pathway, including a new Ladies Development Team and an Under 16s team.
Club chairman Rod Brown commented: “As chairman, on behalf of our directors, staff, players and everyone associated with Bromsgrove Sporting, I would like to take this opportunity to express our wish to promote positive change.
“It’s also a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements that our girls and women have achieved.
“We wish to try and create an environment that respects girls and women, in a male dominated sport.
“We have recently joined in partnership with Colmers Sixth Form College, to create a Football Academy starting in September, and we are looking to set up a Ladies Academy in the near future.
“Finally, I would also like to give a shoutout of full support to our own Sporting ladies, who work tirelessly behind the scenes – Anita, Sandra, Sarah, Andrea, Margaret, Della and Michelle!
