COACHES’ CORNER: Paul Smith Previews Chasetown

Ahead of tomorrow’s Isuzu FA Trophy match, away at Chasetown (3:00 KO), manager Paul Smith has spoken about the fixture and some important player news. He starts with his history in the Trophy…

“After a magical run to the semi finals of this competition a few years back, the FA Trophy has become a special competition for me, and I’m excited about tomorrow’s tie.

“The draw could have been kinder – Chasetown are a very good step four side and a very well run club, who have recently installed an artificial pitch.

“They will look at this as a great chance to knock a club out from a higher division.

“We come into this on the back of a confidence boosting win on Tuesday at Droitwich. Added to that, we are delighted to say that the skipper has turned down an approach from Stourbridge to join them.

“Since I arrived, he has been magnificent on and off the pitch – he is our leader and, as a club, we are lucky to have him.

“The news has given the whole club a lift, and the dressing room especially. I’m hopeful we can take this bounce into the game tomorrow.”
