LADIES

Sunday 11th February – Bromsgrove Sporting vs Meadow Park

Bromsgrove looked to extend their unbeaten league campaign against local rivals Meadow Park. Sporting started very brightly and made early pressure count on four minutes, when a corner from Kate Bonser was turned in by a Meadow Park defender. Sporting continued to create chances and doubled their lead in the 18th minute, when a through ball from Charlotte Wallis sent Vicky Grady in on goal – her first shot was well-saved, but Grady lifted the rebound over the goalkeeper to make it two. In the 27th minute, Grady added her second of the game when a good low, driven cross by Bonser left her with a chance she couldn’t miss. Meadow Park sat very deep and tried to make it difficult for Sporting, who continued to create chances but were let down by the wrong decisions in the final third. Half Time: Bromsgrove 3 -0 Meadow Park

The second half started in the same way as the first, with Sporting dominating possession and creating all of the games’ chances. In the 60th minute, Charlotte Wallis broke from midfield after receiving a pass from Meg Chapman before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom right corner for Sporting’s fourth. On 70 minutes, youngster Heather Rigby found herself through on goal and scored her first senior goal on just her second appearance.

This goal was very quickly followed by Wallis’ 2nd of the game, when she was found by a reverse pass by Amy Kendall, before finding the same corner as her first. Sporting arguably should have scored more goals thereafter, but the Ladies struggled to find the right final ball.

Full Time: Bromsgrove 6 – 0 Meadow Park. Goals: Vicky Grady (x2), Charlotte Wallis (x2) Heather Rigby, Own Goal. Opposition Player of the Match: Amy Kendall.

On Sunday, Sporting are at home in a MASSIVE top of the table clash against joint leaders Malvern Town. Please come down and give the Ladies a big support in what is their biggest game of the season so far!
