COACHES’ CORNER: Mike McGrath previews Stamford

Ahead of Saturday’s visit to Stamford (3:00 KO), manager Mike McGrath has previewed the fixture. He looks at his squad, the opposition and also gives thanks to the Sporting fans…

“With some key players back, I’m looking for the team to push on now and turn those close games into wins.

“We have had some really good results already this season, but having some of the most experienced players out has cost us at times. We’ve got a very talented young squad and, if we can keep together, I’m sure they will develop into a team that can go on to do great things for the club.

“Stamford is the first of three tough games over the festive period. They, like Leiston, are also on a good run, but if we continue to put in the effort we have been, I’m sure we will get results, in what is a very tough division.

“It’s been a tough period since the COVID season for the fans. I’m looking to build a team that they can be proud of, as they deserve it for their support in these times when the club has been struggling.”
