COACHES’ CORNER: Gavin Hurren Previews Banbury United

Ahead of Saturday’s Pitching In Southern League Premier Central match, away to Banbury United (3:00 KO), manager Gavin Hurren has previewed the fixture, as well as reflecting on last Saturday’s win and providing an update regarding Miro Pais.

“I was immensely proud of how the boys applied themselves against Lowestoft Town. I thought we were by the far the better team over the 90 minutes. We created some really good stuff, worked hard, and it was a really positive result.

“I do believe it had been coming. For us to have only lost 3 in 14 league games shows that our performances have been there. We’ve now just got to try and convert our draws into some more of these wins.

“Collectively, over the course of those 14 games, I think we’ve been progressing each week. I felt all the new additions were outstanding on Saturday. They settled really well, training was positive last week and it has been the same this week too.

“I believe a lot is down to fine margins as to why we haven’t come away with more points than we have over the last few weeks.

“I’m really looking forward to going to top of the league Banbury – it will be a good guide in seeing where we’re at and we’ll give it a good go.

“The information came back from Miro’s scan and unfortunately, it’s not good, as he will be out for the rest of the season. The club, myself and the team will be supporting him through his recovery and rehabilitation, to get him back playing for Bromsgrove Sporting again. I’m gutted for him, as he’s a fantastic player and a great lad. His attitude has been brilliant since I came to the club.

“I’d like to thank the fans. To have nearly 850 fans last weekend, virtually all of whom were from Sporting, is a credit to the town. Thanks for getting behind us – it means a great deal.

“We’re going into a really tough run of games and we’ve got to stay positive, ensure we give good accounts of ourselves, and really take it to these teams – that’s the only way we will get positive results!”
