WELCOME GAVIN BLACKWELL

We are pleased to announce our new Sports Physiotherapist to Thomas’ back room.

Gavin is a graduate sports therapist, who holds a number of other related qualifications that include The FA Diploma in The Treatment and Management of Injuries and FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine.

He brings more than 30 years experience in football medicine, his previous clubs include Halesowen Town (15) and Hednesford Town for (8) seasons. Alongside a similar role with Wolverhampton Wanderers Academy for (27) years. 

He has also sourced and researched articles for journals and information/footage tributes for the outstanding contribution awards for the Football Medicine And Performance Association, and organises speakers for the North West Sports Injury Rehabilitation Network.

In 2010 he was awarded the FMPA award for covering 1,000 games in football and in 2011 the prestigious (21 club) award that recognises Medicine and Performance practitioners who have worked in professional football for 21 years. 

Enjoying many successes, highlights with the Yeltz and Pitmen where he was club Physio across two decades and was a key figure in the backroom staff, including winning the Southern League Midland Division title, a Southern League Cup, 2 Play off finals, Promotion via the play-offs and 3 Premier Division runners ups.

Gavin, who has worked at 2,000 games, across the National League North, Southern Premier League, Northern Premier League Midland Football league and Academy said: ā€œIā€™m very proud that Thomas (Baillie) has asked me to be part of his backroom staff and delighted to be joining Bromsgrove Sporting this is a really exciting challenge. One I am looking forward to and working with the players and staff. I can’t wait for the season to start and experience the unique atmosphere of The Victoria Ground on match day.ā€
