U21s SUMMARY: The Latest News

This article about our U21s side, from Matt Tennant, reflects on last weekend’s win and this Saturday’s fixture…

The wait is finally over. Bromsgrove Sporting U21s were finally back in action for their first League match in almost two months on Saturday, as they grabbed an explosive 4-0 win over S J B Juniors U21s.

The Rouslers haven’t been able to play a match since November, with various weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances forcing the team to postpone their games.

The team were eager to start the New Year and leave their bad luck behind but a postponement in the wake of Storm Goretti prolonged their frustrating wait.

“It was good to get back to actually playing in our first game since early November,” said Under 21s joint-manager, Stuart Carson.

“The lads have trained really well and treated it like a pre season again due to lack of fixtures and postponements which hasn’t been ideal.”

But with a clear pitch and not a storm in sight, Sporting were finally able to get a game underway and renew their charge up into the League’s top ten.

Sporting’s elation to be back on the pitch was obvious, after they quickly took possession and went 1-0 up inside the first two minutes after a fantastic finish from the rapid Zak Parr.

Bromsgrove held the visitors to 1-0 until Sporting’s Alemi Obey-GM created an opportunity to increase his team’s tally early in the second half to make it two.

The home side’s Kellan Moran caught the goalscoring bug and made it 3-0 in the 60th minute before Kaden Heath finished the day with another strong finish to send S J B Juniors U21s packing, as Bromsgrove U21’s claimed their third clean sheet of the season.

The convincing victory sees Bromsgrove Sporting U21s break into the top 10, to claim 9th position with 18 points.

Speaking after the game, Carson said: “As expected, no matter how much you train, games hit different and although we started well with an early goal, I thought we did labour a little.

“This was probably due to opponents showing little intent to break out of their low block.

“Some good goals were scored and it should have been more. Full credit to the S J B keeper, who I thought gave a great performance.

“As the game wore on we found our stride and overall it was a pleasing first week back.

“Thanks for everyone’s support and to John for stepping in on the line last minute.

“Minutes in the legs was vital and we go into this week looking forward to a tough run of fixtures which will challenge the boys over the next month.”

The first match of this tough run sees Bromsgrove visit Brocton U21.

Brocton U21 are currently in seventh place on a healthy 21 points, having played 11 League games so far this season.

The Staffordshire unit have proved themselves to be a highly competitive opponent at least twice in all but two of their outings across all competitions this season.

Their strongest game was an 0-13 clean sheet thrashing against S J B Juniors, although the team will arrive this weekend following a rough 6-2 loss against Rushall Olympic U21, as they went out of the County Cup.

Bromsgrove, on the other hand, have won their last three matches, two of which were away from home.

The Rouslers are in fine form heading into this weekend’s clash and a win could see them equal Brocton’s points tally, as they look to continue their surge up through the pack.

Can Bromsgrove bag another one, or will Brocton put their troubles aside to target a first win of 2026?

Find out on Saturday 24th January, when Brocton U21 face Bromsgrove Sporting U21 at Brocton Football Club (10:30 KO).
