U21s SUMMARY: The Latest News

This article about our U21s side, from Matt Tennant, reflects on last weekend’s postponement and this weekend’s fixture, as they hunt their fourth league win in a row…

“Despite not having a game, it has been far from a quiet week in U21s news.

Last Saturday’s home match against Ivanhoe U21 Knights was cancelled due to concerns over bad weather concerning Storm Claudia.

The League has not yet been confirmed a rescheduled date for the fixture.

It wasn’t a weekend off for all however, as U21s star Fin Carson made an appearance on the bench for Bromsgrove Sporting’s clash against Stourbridge last Saturday.

The appearance is a demonstartion of the strong partnership between the U21s and first team staff, in addition to the club’s ongoing commitment to create pathways for its younger talent.

Moving onto this week, Sporting’s U21s hit the road to face Stafford Rangers U21.

The Rangers are currently 18th in the table on four points, after one win, one draw and eight losses during their 25/26 MFL campaign thus far.

Despite the side’s slow start to the season, their form looks to have steadily improved, after they broke their losing streak with a shock 1-1 draw at league leaders Stourbridge U21 in October.

It wasn’t long after that they bagged a massive 6-2 win at home against S J B Juniors U21, which they followed up with a narrow 3-2 loss to Brocton U21 in their most recent outing.

Although Bromsgrove’s U21s were in a similar position not so long ago, their own improved form has seen them rocket to 12th in the table on 15 points.

They have won all three of their last league games, which included two clean sheets and a 1-4 away win to Coalville Town Ravens U21 last time out.

A win this weekend could propel Bromsgorve into the top half of the table for the first time since last season, but a victory for Stafford could see them move a similar distance up the table.

With both teams having made their own gains in recent weeks, who will come out on top to reap the rewards?

Find out when Bromsgrove Sporting U21 will take on Stafford Rangers U21 on Saturday 22nd November at Marston Road Stadium with a 10:30 kick off.
