This article about our U21s side, from Matt Tennant, reflects on last weekend’s incredible derby day win and this Saturday’s home fixture…
An explosive second half performance saw Bromsgrove Sporting U21s record their biggest victory of the season, with a 4-0 win over Redditch United U21s.
Both teams closely contested the first half and struggled to convert their chances and pull away.
That was until Bromsgrove’s Brendan Field (pictured directly below) broke the stalemate with a fine strike, which gave the home side the lead at half time.

From then on, it was plain sailing for Bromsgrove, who controlled possession and dominated the second half.
The Rouslers went 2-0 ahead with Brendan Field’s second goal, followed by finishes from Kellan Moran and James Guthrie, as Bromsgrove worked like a well oiled machine to create a barrage of chances and leave Redditch shellshocked.
This was Bromsgrove’s first clean sheet win of the season and pushes the team up to fourteenth in the league table, on nine points.
Under 21s joint-manager, Mark Reeve, said: “It was a slow start to the game and we couldn’t get into our stride.
“The first goal was the breakthrough and after that we, never looked back, getting stronger throughout the game as we progressed to a deserved win.”
“Man of the Match this week is Jack Cooke (pictured directly below). He’s been a constant performer since his arrival, and topped off a fine display,” he added.

The team will return to League action in November, when they visit Diamonds Academy U21.
This weekend, Bromsgrove will face AFC Kempsey as they kick start their WFA County Cup campaign.
Organised by the Worcestershire Football Association, the competition invites teams from across Worcestershire to compete.
Following a walkover victory over AFC Worcester Forge in their scheduled First Round, Bromsgrove progressed to the Second Round of the County Cup.
Their upcoming opponents, AFC Kempsey, play in the Herefordshire Football League, where they currently sit in third place on 20 points.
With six wins, two draws and one loss in their league, Kempsey are a solid unit and look to be a challenging opponent for Bromsgrove.
Despite this, Sporting’s U21s head into it following their resounding 4-0 derby win last weekend, while the Herefordshire side will play off the back of a frustrating 4-3 loss earlier this week.
With home advantage also playing into Bromsgrove’s hands, will they be able to keep up last week’s momentum and progress to the next round of the County Cup?
Find out this Saturday 25th October when Bromsgrove Sporting U21s face AFC Kempsey at the UK Electrical Stadium, with a later 2:00pm kick off.
