U21s SUMMARY: The Latest News

It was a testing week for Bromsgrove Sporting’s U21s, with a 3-1 loss against a fiery Bilston Town U21s side on Saturday.

The home side were first to get off the mark with a goal in the 30th minute. But it wasn’t long before Sporting’s George Gillon found an equaliser to end a closely contested first half.

The two sides continued to lock horns until Bilston found the back of the net once again to retake the lead. The Rouslers fought on, searching for a leveller, until a last gasp goal from the energetic home side secured Bilston’s third consecutive league win of the season.

Under 21s joint-manager, Stuart Carson, said: “We had our chances in the first half and we thought the game was pretty even as we levelled the score before the break.

“But I thought Bilston were hungrier in every department during the second half and if you don’t compete at this level, as we know, you get punished.”

Fellow under 21s joint-manager, Mark Reeve, added: “With a depleted squad and only 12 lads available for selection, we hope to have players returning over the next few weeks.“

This week, Bromsgrove will welcome Boldmere St Michaels U21s to The UK Electrical Stadium for their first home appearance of the season.

A strong side last season, Boldmere have had an intense start to their 25/26 league campaign.

After kicking off with a 3-3 draw to Redditch United U21s, the Mikes secured a 2-0 win over Brocton U21s before suffering a 1-3 loss at home to a smart Stourbridge U21s unit.

However, the visitors will arrive on Saturday with two wins under their belt after their pulsating 3-4 victory over Pelsall Villa Colts last week, putting them seventh in the table on seven points.

Despite a bumpy start to their season, Bromsgrove will be welcoming an upcoming run of home games and will hope to draw on the support of the Sporting faithful to help spur on a much needed win.

“Lessons to be learned again and, with numbers back for next week, we will look to improve on our overall performance,” said Carson.

You can catch Bromsgrove Sporting U21s face Boldmere St Michaels U21s at The UK Electrical Stadium on Saturday 13th September at 10:30 AM.
