There’s plenty to unpack this week, as Bromsgrove Sporting’s U21s were back in action with a sensational matchday triumph.
The home side dominated throughout, with a flood of goals eventually culminating in a resounding 9-0 win over Diamond Academy U21s.
A flurry of goals from Tyree Anglin and a double for Harvey Flemming saw the Rouslers storm ahead inside the first 30 minutes.
The pressure continued relentlessly as the team created multiple opportunities, with Brendan Field, Ewan Carter and Archie Thurston puncturing the opposition’s defence, creating an incredible 7-0 lead at half-time.
This impressive form was maintained to the end, with Anglin slotting another before Zak Parr sneaked one more to drive the home side further ahead.
Mark Reeve, U21 joint manager, commented: “Following on from a good week of training, the instructions were to keep possession, use the technical abilities of the squad and the chances will come.
“Taking an early lead and keeping the pressure on whilst creating plenty of chances throughout the match, the score could have easily been into double figures. A great performance overall.”
Off the pitch, U21s players Archie Thurston, 18, and Bo Morris, 17, have signed forms with the first team after impressing in the U21s’ strong start to the season.
Stuart Carson, U21 joint manager, said: “We’ve had great success so far with Archie and Bo signing first-team forms, so the lads can see there’s a pathway there.
“We’ve said to the lads that the opportunity will be there if they’re good enough. It’s about ability, work rate, attitude and all the usual things.
“If that’s right then we can put them forward. We’ve got a core now and we’ve got to give those lads a chance to develop.”
In other news, the team has added to their ranks with the signings of Droitwich Spa forward pair Kyle Shaw and Haydon Leek.
September’s fixtures have also been announced for the U21s, including two upcoming home games and a first-round clash in the Worcestershire Football Association’s Saturday Cup against Pershore Town 88 Development.
The team are at home again this weekend, as they welcome Stourbridge U21s to the UK Electrical Stadium on Saturday (10:30 KO).
