It’s been an unusually quiet week for Bromsgrove Sporting’s U21s, after their match against Solihull Sporting was postponed.
Heavy rainfall battered the county overnight and forced the match to be called off after an inspection on Saturday morning.
“Unfortunately, the weather beat us and despite work on the pitch, the overnight rain on Friday resulted in the ref correctly postponing our game against Solihull” said joint manager Stuart Carson.
The team are now focusing their attention on this weekend’s second round fixture of the Worcestershire FA County Cup
“This Saturday we make the short journey across Worcestershire to take on AFC Worcester Firsts in the WFA County Cup,” said joint manager Mark Reeve.
“With the hosts having a great start to the season, this will be a challenge that we will relish and we will focus our efforts in training this week to get the squad ready for the match.”
Stuart added: “We’re looking forward to our derby this week in the cup following our weekend off and we hope to have a couple of key players back in the squad this week following injuries or holidays.
“Everyone looks forward to cup games and we will relish the opportunity to pit our wits against a good AFC Worcester side which I’m sure will be an entertaining fixture.”
The Rouslers are currently third in the league, but are now being chased by both Cadbury Athletic U21s and Bedworth United U21s, who are all on nine points.
Reflecting on the season so far, Reeve said: “We are early into the season, with six games played and, in general, we have been good.
“There have been a couple of disappointing draws along the way, but we hope to get back into winning ways quickly.
“The squad is settling down which as with any new team takes time, but they are working well with a good competitive nature between the players.”
Bromsgrove Sporting’s U21s will be back in action against AFC Worcester Firsts on Saturday 26th October at 2:00 pm at the University of Worcester’s St John’s Campus.
