U18s & U21s: Youth Pathway Round-Up

Below is the latest round-up of the season featuring the freshest news from both our U21s and new U18s sides, from Matt Tennant…

U21s

A sensational first half trio of goals guided Bromsgrove Sporting U21s to a 3-1 win over Sporting Khalsa Youth U21 at home.

Harvey Flemming, Jack Cooke and Zak Parr all scored in the opening 45 minutes, as the home side kept Khalsa on the back foot.

The visitors denied Sporting a clean sheet with their second half finish, but they couldn’t threaten Bromsgrove’s healthy lead or break their winning form.

Under 21s joint-manager, Stuart Carson, said: “It was a pleasing win again on Saturday and there were plenty of minutes for the whole squad against a competitive Khalsa side.

“We now go into a consistent run of games, which will hopefully help us continue our winning start to the season.

“We think there is a lot more to come from this squad.”

Next up, Bromsgrove Sporting U21s welcome Ashby Ivanhoe U21 Knights to The UK Electrical Stadium on Saturday 3rd October (10:30 KO).

U18s

Meanwhile, Bromsgrove Sporting’s U18s side scored two late goals in their hard-fought 2-1 win over Paget Rangers.

Sporting’s Sam and Alfie scored in the 85th and 90th minute of the game respectibely, after being a goal down for almost the entirety of the match.

The game, which took place on a slightly later Wednesday night date, saw Sporting frustrated by the Rangers, who committed to a low block defence after taking the lead.

It was a psychological challenge for Bromsgrove’s up and coming players, who’s patience and determination paid off for a hard-earned three points at home.

Under 18s manager, Dave Andrewartha, said: “We dominated possession but found chances hard to come by.

“Credit to the lads, they stayed patient, kept pushing and showed real perseverance to find a way through late on.

“A change of approach in the final 15 minutes paid off, and the rewards eventually came.”

There’s more Monday night action when Bromsgrove Sporting U18 face Worcester City at home in the Giant Killers Cup on Monday 5th October (7:45 KO).
