Below is the latest round-up of the season featuring the freshest news from both our U21s and new U18s sides, from Matt Tennant…
With both the Under-21s and Under-18s having been on a ‘bye week’ of sorts, here’s a review of how the season has started for the squads.
U21s
It’s fair to say that the Under-21s have made a phenomenal start to this season’s campaign.
They have won five out of five league games so far, compared with their three losses and one win at this same point last year.
The team lead the division on goals with a massive goal difference of 24 and are six points from the top of the division, with two games in hand.
The rapid Zak Parr has had one of his strongest starts to a season since joining the team, with 10 goals under his belt. Alemi Obey-GM, Ethan Ward, Finley Carson, Josh Long and Hayden Baker have also made the scoresheet multiple times this season so far, with many others being quick to show their skills throughout the squad.
The remnants of last year’s early struggles are long forgotten, as Sporting’s U21 look set to contend at the top of the table if they can carry forward this momentum.
Bromsgrove’s Under-21s will be in action at home next, against Sporting Khalsa Youth U21 Development on Saturday (26th September) at The UK Electrical Stadium – 10:30 KO.
U18s
The Under-18s have also made their mark so far this season. Sitting on three wins, one draw and one loss, the team find themselves third in their table, tied on 10 points with Kidderminster Harriers, as Midland Floodlit football has returned to Sporting after many years.
Dave Andrewartha’s side have shown a good attitude and have frequently translated this into quality football.
With at least one goal scored in every game so far this season, the squad has developed an effective playing style and are certainly a team full of exciting talents.
The Under-18s welcome Paget Rangers to The UK Electrical Stadium on Monday (28th September – 7:45 KO).
