U21s
Bromsgrove Sporting U21s were back in action last weekend, and recorded a 2-1 home victory against Coventry Copsewood.
Bromsgrove’s Zak Parr snatched an early lead after five minutes at the UK Electrical Stadium, before slotting a second half penalty to win the game after Coventry’s equaliser.
Under 21s joint-manager, Stuart Carson, said: “Under the lights, we entertained Coventry Copsewood who, to be fair, proved to be our toughest opponent so far this season.
“Full credit to the whole squad who stepped up to secure the win. With a little more detail, we should have scored more.
“Thanks to everyone for watching on Saturday. It was great to see the lads being supported.”
It’s another solid result for Bromsgrove’s U21 so far this season, which will fill the team with confidence heading into a meeting with Bartley Reds U21s this Saturday (12th September) at Lift Four Dwellings Secondary in Quinton (10:30 KO).
U18s
Sporting’s U18s drew 1-1 against Kidderminster Harriers on Monday, after fighting hard following a controversial send off.
Bromsgrove were shown a red card just before half time, forcing the team to switch up tactics in the second half.
Kieron Nightingale scored the opener for the visitors in the first half, before the Harriers equalised shortly after.
Despite being a man down, Bromsgrove played patiently, enforcing a low block, before striking strong counter attacks in an attempt to bag the winner.
Although Bromsgrove’s chances didn’t find the back of the net, U18s manager Dave Andrewartha believed that 1-1 was a good result and that Bromsgrove’s spirit made them the better side.
“We showed a tremendous amount of character and resilience to dominate in the second half,” he said
“We won all our first and second contacts, which gave us the platform to go and play where we created four or five really good chances to win the game.”
The team will play at home on Monday (14th September), welcoming Bustleholme to the UK Electrical Stadium (7:45 KO).
