Below is the latest round-up of the season featuring the freshest news from both our U21s and new U18s sides, from Matt Tennant…
U18s
Back at home, Bromsgrove U18s enjoyed a brilliant experience, winning 4-0 against Malvern Town on Monday night.
Following their nailbiting encounter with Boldmere, the young Rouslers turned up the heat to overwhelm an undefeated Malvern in the second round of the Colin Lowe Memorial League Cup.
George Andrewartha tucked the ball away twice, with Omar Touray and Sam Dunkley gatting involved upfront to extend Bromsgrove’s lead.
Under-18s manager, Dave Andrewartha, was thrilled with his side’s clean sheet win, which he described as ‘a statement performance’.
“The lads delivered what was arguably our best performance of the season, maintaining an excellent level of intensity, tempo and quality throughout the full 90 minutes,” he said.
“We worked tirelessly for each other, moved the ball brilliantly and showed real determination whenever Malvern threatened to build momentum.”
“At the back, we were solid and resolute, winning the majority of our first balls and limiting the opposition’s opportunities.
“At the other end, we were clinical, with George Andrewartha helping himself to a brace, alongside goals from Omar Touray and Sam Dunkley to complete a fantastic team performance.”
The side are back in action on Wednesday night, when they take on Bedworth United at The UK Electrical Stadium (7:45 KO).
U21s
Bromsgrove Sporting U21s seven game winning streak came to an end, after their 5-1 defeat on the road to Pelsall Villa Colts U21s.
Pelsall slotted the opener and defended a narrow 1-0 lead into half time, giving the Rouslers hope of hitting back after the break.
But the storm didn’t let up, as a disastrous second half start saw Bromsgrove concede another four goals.
The visitors were left playing an impossible catch-up, with a late goal from Samuel Whittlestone doing little to quell the frustration of a side that has been so dominant this season.
Under 21’s joint-manager, Stuart Carson, said: “At some point the winning run comes back to bite you and when you aren’t all at the levels we expect you get punished.
“Full credit to Pelsall who never stopped working. A 15 minute spell saw us out of the game through poor mistakes.
“Definitely one to learn from, so we get down to work this week and look to get back on track.”
This weekend, Bromsgrove welcome Stafford Rangers U21 to the UK Electrical Stadium on Saturday 24th October (10:30 KO).
