LADIES DEVELOPMENT

  • BROMSGROVE SPORTING DEVS 1 – 2 INKBERROW EAGLES LADIES. On what was a scorcher of a day, the Devs went out in force from the get go, with plenty of attacks on the Inkberrow team. Despite opportunities, Bromsgrove couldn’t find the back of the net. It was just before half time when the visitors took the lead, after a ball from their defence was skilfully taken through Sporting’s back line and slotted home. The second half saw some changes made to the Devs team and, again, Bromsgrove came out fighting. It was a handball in the box from a Devs corner that provided Bromsgrove with the opportunity to draw level. Up stepped a confident Chloe, who placed the ball in the back of the net. The last quarter of the game really saw the heat start to get the better of Bromsgrove, with energy levels dipping. With just one minute of injury time left to play, Inkberrow were able to break through the defence and snatched the winning goal with a great shot from the edge of the box. Whilst it was a disappointing result, and a real shame to have lost the game in the last minute, the team fought hard in the heat to compete against a young and fast paced Inkberrow team. Sporting Player of the Match was awarded to Chloe, for the strength and commitment shown in her defensive role throughout the game.
  • They are at home to Kingfisher Women on Sunday (2:00 KO).

VETERANS

  • The Vets travel to Northfield Town on Wednesday (21st May) for a league match (6:40 KO).

GIRLS

  • Bromsgrove Sporting U10 Girls. They played their final game of the season last weekend.
  • Bromsgrove Sporting U13 Girls. Their final game of the season was at home against Inkberrow Eagles. Sporting started strongly and were keen to get on the ball and play from the outset. Some good football was being played and the girls were keen to pass and play well. Sporting did get lucky with a speculative looping shot from Inkberrow, which hit the crossbar. At the other end, Sporting had some good build up play, resulting in a great chance for Freya that the goalkeeper saved. In the second half, Inkberrow managed to break the deadlock with a cross that the Inkberrow forward did well to put the chance away. Five minutes later, a fantastic run from Gracie saw her go through one-on-one – her shot beat the keeper but hit the post. Immy also had a couple of decent chances which were saved and ultimately Bromsgrove would pay the price when, after some possession, Inkberrow managed to double their lead with a fine strike. The last five minutes saw Sporting push hard to get back into it and were rewarded when a cross-shot was deflected in for an own goal. The game ended 1-2 and Sporting can feel a little hard done by to not come away with anything, but it was great to see some excellent football played and a good game to end the season. It’s been a fantastic first season and considering a number of the squad had never played before starting this season – they have come a very long way. A well-earned break now before looking forward to getting back for pre-season.
  • Bromsgrove Sporting U18 Girls. They travelled to Tamworth on a very hot Saturday morning, with a reduced squad, and came away with a worthy 8-0 win. Sporting started well and passed the ball around nicely, very nearly scoring inside the first five minutes. It was not long before Sporting did get the first goal, quickly followed by a second. Bromsgrove piled on the pressure and really should have had more, but were not clinical enough with their finishing. A further goal did arrive though, to make it 3-0 at half time. The second half was much the same as the first – Bromsgrove made the chances but could not convert. With the heat affecting the opposition more than Sporting, they scored five goals in the second half to make it 8-0. Sporting play league leaders Lye this weekend at home.
  • The Under 18s are recruiting for their squad – contact Alan Williams on 07786 983 951 for more info.
