RESULTS: News From The Sporting Teams

This article looks at the latest results and news from all the Sporting teams…

FIRST TEAM

The First Team narrowly lost to Alvechurch last weekend. They play AFC Sudbury tomorrow, at home, in what is a massive game at the foot of the table – your support would be greatly appreciated.

LADIES

Sunday was a brilliant day at the Victoria Ground, as our Ladies team secured the Midwest Counties Female Football League title and ensured they would finish their league season unbeaten after easily beating nearest rivals Malvern Town 5-0. Read a report of the day here.

Leading the ladies onto the field were our U9 Girls as mascots, along with some squad team members. The Ladies will return the favour to the U9s, by attending their game this Saturday.

The ladies would love to see your continued support at their upcoming games, starting with their League Cup quarter final vs Redditch Borough Development on 21st April at the Victoria Ground.

For information from the Ladies’ team, be sure to tweet their Twitter/X account – @LadiesSporting.

VETERANS

The Veterans’ scheduled game versus Alvechurch TB, on Wednesday, was called off. They West Brom Spinney away on Sunday, then Droitwich Spa at home on 21st April. Both in the league, both 10:30 KO.

COLTS NEWS

The U13s JPL team are at it again – a vital win at the weekend secured the JPL Midlands title with two games to go. A play-off with three other Midland League winners to gain promotion up to the National JPL awaits. There’s also a semi final of the National JPL Cup.

Sunday saw one of the U10s teams play in a cup final. Getting to this final was a great achievement for a fantastic bunch of lads. They lost, to a better side, but there’s no shame in that!

GIRLS

There were no girls games played this weekend just gone.

This weekend, the U9 Girls play in a local derby vs Catshill, the U18 MW entertain Knowle Raptors and the U18 TL play top of the table Rugby, away, in the cup semi final.

A huge well done from all the Girls go to the Ladies for their league win – the U9s were mascots at the victory over Malvern last week.

The U18s are recruiting players for next year’s team, as there are quite a few going to University – contact Alan Williams on 07786 983 951 if you’re interested!
