Manager Paul Smith has provided the following update regarding the latest at the club…
“It’s been a promising start to pre-season training. In years gone by, players would come back to the squad out of shape, and use pre-season to get fit.Â
“However, the lads nowadays keep themselves ticking over throughout the summer, and that’s a credit to them. This group have looked fit and hungry in the first couple of sessions.Â
“Like with any new group, it’s important to get the team spirit and togetherness going as soon as possible. The army session yesterday, which you may have seen shots from on social media, was a great starter for that.
“The big characters in the dressing room are there – the skipper Luke Rowe, big Charlie Price, Reece King and, of course, Aaron Roberts. They are in and getting around the others, which is great to see.
“There’s a long way to go to get this group where I want them for the opener on the 10th of August but, rest assured, it’s been a very positive first week back in.”
The club will be releasing more news about the make-up of the squad when we commence our pre-season campaign.
