Paul Cheston: 1940 – 2024

We are sad to report the passing of one of our most loyal fans of recent years, a stalwart of the Bromsgrove Sporting (formerly Rovers) Supporters Society and a for a short period of time, one of the Society representatives on the Club’s board of directors.

Paul first became a Bromsgrove Rovers fan back in the 1994/95 season, when his two daughters Kylie and Romilly thought it would be something fun to do and since then, he hardly missed a home match.

Away from the football, Paul could be seen regularly in Bromsgrove town centre, either having a coffee in Coffee-2 or volunteering at the British Heart Foundation shop, sorting out the books and DVDs.

He was also an active member of 216 (Redditch) Squadron Air Cadets, where for over 20 years he supported the squadron as the Chair or Treasurer of the Committee.

Paul met his wife Janice (who sadly died a few years ago) when they both worked at Austin Rover works at Longbridge. They married in 1978, living in Bromsgrove where they raised their two daughters. As a family, they loved to travel and, in later years, Paul and Janice could be found on the latest world cruise!

Paul will be sadly missed by his family, all those who knew him at the Victoria Ground, and by the wider community.

His funeral will be held at Redditch Crematorium on Thursday 5th September at 2:00 pm. The family have said that everyone will be welcome.
