Bromsgrove Sporting are delighted to announce the addition of midfielder Zac Powell
17-year old Zac spent time with Westfields and Hereford Pegasus last season before joining our U21 set up. After impressing in our two pre-season matches thus far, including scoring a goal in our win over AFC Wulfrunians, manager Paul Smith has moved quickly to add him to the first team squad.
On joining Sporting, Zac commented: “I’m really looking forward to working with the gaffer and the management team to aid my development for the season ahead. The lads have made me feel really welcome during pre season and I can’t wait to get out in-front of the Sporting faithful.”
Manager Paul Smith added: “I watched Zac come in to a trial game for our under-21s and he stood out a mile, so I immediately brought him into the first team fold.
“A talented boy and, at 17 years old, he is a very exciting prospect. I’m delighted he has signed a deal for the upcoming season.”
Football Development Officer and U21 chairman Iain Queen said: “We are delighted to see Zac sign first team forms. He came to our U21 trials and instantly stood out in the games.
“Despite his young age, Zac played 35 games at Step 5 last season, scoring 5 goals for Hereford Pegasus and Westfields.
“He is certainly one for the future, but as he has proven in the last two friendlies, he is confident and can be relied upon for the first team.
“Credit to Paul Smith, Steve McGinn and Snapper, who attended the U21 trial games and have identified players who they see as part of our future.
“We are delighted with the start we have made with the U21s; the management team of Mark Reeve, Stuart Carson, Pete Rose and Ricky McNamara have recruited a great set of lads who we feel will be competitive in the Midlands U21 league.
“We hope our fans will get behind our future and come and watch us at the UK Electrical Stadium this coming season.
U21’s will play at home on a Saturday (10.30 KO) on weeks when the first team are away
We hope you will join us in welcoming Zac to Sporting!
