NEW ADDITION: Sporting sign Premier League keeper on loan

Bromsgrove Sporting are pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Akos Onodi has joined the club on a long loan from Aston Villa.

Akos Onodi joined Aston Villa in October 2018 from Eto FC Gyor in his native Hungary. The goalkeeper initially joined the Under-18s before moving up to the Under-23s.

Onodi was the winner of the U18 2019/20 Premier League save of the season award for a stunning stop against Arsenal. The Hungarian keeper made his debut for the club against Liverpool in the FA Cup third round in January 2021, producing a number of fine saves.

Manager Bren Kelly commented: “After speaking with Aston Villa, a there is no doubting they see Akos as one for the future and they rate him highly, so we are obviously delighted with the loan deal.

“It will enhance Akos’ experience of adult football and give him an opportunity to play in front of decent crowds home and away. He’s a young lad learning his trade and hopefully we can help him do that. I’ve spoken to him and he is very assured and is eager to get going with us.”

We hope you will join us in welcoming Akos to the Victoria Ground!
