Bromsgrove Sporting are delighted that vastly experienced defender Paul McCone will be joining the club, in a player-assistant manager role.
Paul, who was most recently plying his trade at Stratford Town, has played at a plethora of other Midlands clubs, including Kidderminster Harriers, Halesowen Town, Stourbridge and Hednesford Town.
He will be an assistant to manager Scott Adey-Linforth alongside Karl Fellows, who was First Team Coach at Sporting last season.
On joining Sporting, Paul commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Bromsgrove Sporting, as assistant manager and player. It’s an honour to be part of such a great club, with a strong sense of community and a passionate fan base.
“I’ve known Scott for many years, and I’m really looking forward to working with him to help continue building on the solid foundations he’s already laid. This feels like the natural next step for me, both personally and professionally, and my family are just as excited for this new adventure. They will be there every week, proudly cheering the team on.”
Commenting on Paul joining, Scott Adey-Linforth commented: “I’m delighted to bring Paul to the club. He’s an exceptional leader and a top defender that will bring a wealth of experience to the club. Paul will be coming in as a player, but also as an assistant to help me going forward.”
And on Karl Fellows also becoming an assistant, Scott said: “As well as Paul, Karl will be stepping up to fill Darryl Knights’ shoes.
“Karl joined mid-way through last season – he is a top coach and is someone I trust. I have learnt a lot from him over the years and I’m looking forward to working with him more going forward.”
We hope you will join us in welcoming Paul to Sporting and celebrating Karl’s move up to assistant too!
