Bromsgrove Sporting kickstarted their 2020/21 campaign with a 3-0 friendly win against Studley, played at Eldorado Close.

Two headed goals from Leon Broadhurst and a volley by a trialist, who just so happened to be club legend Jason Cowley, ensured that Bren Kelly's men would ultimately ease to victory.

Sporting dominated the early passages of play and would only have to wait nine minutes for the opener, as a Will Shorrock corner was headed home with authority by Broadhurst.

Shorrock almost bagged one himself moments later, but his effort was saved by the Studley stopper, before hitting the rebound across the goal.

Full back Jack Wilson forced his way into the box on the half hour mark but could only shoot straight at the keeper, while a Studley player hit the crossbar with a speculative cross from the byline with five minutes of the half remaining.

Eight substitutions were made a half time - one of these was a trialist (B), who along with Shorrock and Sam Collins, saw efforts saved by the Studley goalkeeper in quick succession.

Another trialist (C) went on a lengthy run in the 70th minute, before shooting narrowly wide with a well struck drive from around 20 yards.

The 77th minute saw summer recruit Josh Ezewele curl a shot just wide from outside the area after a menacing run towards goal.

Five minutes later, the second came, as trialist B crossed to yet another trialist (D) from just outside the box - trialist D, who was none other than Sporting's all-time top scorer Jason Cowley, did so with an acrobatic volley from 12 yards.

Trialist C had another couple of efforts on goal shortly after, with the third goal eventually coming two minutes from time, as a Josh Quaynor cross was headed home at the back stick by Broadhurst.

It was almost four in the final stages, as Quaynor had a shot from range that was parried to Trialist B; he subsequently hit it onto the crossbar, which led to appeals that it had crossed the line - these were ignored by the assistant referee, however.
