Another useful pre-season match for Sporting who put on an impressive performance against their higher division opponents in an entertaining match writes Phil Baker.
The Rouslers pretty much dominated the first half allowing little past a solid back wall whilst constantly keeping the forwards supplied.
First chance went to striker Wade Malley on the 7th minute who was put through with a fine pass by Reece Hewitt but in a one-to-one with home Žkeeper Smith, MalleyŽs shot was well tipped away.
However, the away side deservedly took the lead with 33 minutes gone when Liam SpinkŽs well-flighted corner to the far post was thundered home by lofty centre-back Ben Birch.
Manager Paul Smith made seven changes after the interval but that made little difference to the balance of play with the set-up continuing in the same vein.
With three minutes of the second half gone Chrisi Conway got quickly to the by-line knocking over a first class cross that Hewitt gratefully headed home.
Then two minutes later Sporting got their third when John Pykett tapped in the rebound after Robbie BunnŽs effort was saved.
Romulus rallied as the half went on and looked to be more organised getting the ball up front a little more often but any danger was quickly mopped up by a the back four that meant Reece Francis between the sticks only had to make a couple of reasonable saves.
