Goals from Will Shorrock and new addition Andre Landell guided Bromsgrove Sporting to a 2-0 friendly win over Stourport Swifts on Tuesday evening.

Both the game's goals came in the second half, as Bren Kelly's men had the ideal preparation ahead of the Boxing Day clash against Alvechurch in the Red Recruitment Cup.

Swifts started the game positively, with Phillips having a shot deflected wide before Jack Watts volleyed just wide in the 11th minute.

Sporting enjoyed some chances as the half progressed but were unable to trouble the scoresheet; Gift Mussa had a shot inside the box palmed wide, Jason Cowley saw an effort squirm narrowly wide from close range and Miro Pais unleashed a fierce strike that only just missed the target.

The opener came eight minutes into the second half, as Shorrock's drive from inside the area deflected off a defender before finding its way into the net.

Stourport substitute Jonny Johnston clattered the crossbar with the goal at his mercy on the hour mark; 16 minutes later, the lead was doubled, as Landell tucked the ball home nicely after his initial effort was saved following some intricate skill in the box.

The 80th minute saw Johnston have a further effort saved by Sporting stopper Daniel Platt, with the follow up from James Hill being blocked off the line.
